Christians need discernment.

God demands us to have discernment.

so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind to doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. -Ephesians 4:14

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. -Romans 12:2

I've been coming across things that people are learning which are false prophecies. God warns us about false prophets. (Matt. 7:15)

To have good discernment, we have to study God's word. We shouldn't be just reading His word, but we should be meditating on it, studying it. Read it thoroughly to know what God is trying to tell you through His word. God tells us in Psalms 1 that 'blessed is the man who meditates on His word day and night'.

And also, when listening to someone who is talking to you about God's word, it should always be biblical based. Thats why you have your bible always with you to keep them accountable.

I was reading a book, called A Call for Discernment. Before reading this, I really wanted discernment so I will be able to know which is God's word and which isn't.

We really need to be mature in knowing God's word.

Hebrews 5:13 - for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.
verse 14- But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

"test the spirits if they are of God (1 John 4:1-6) to discriminate between things that differ (Phil. 1:10) and test everything carefully (1 Thes. 5:21)" - A Call to Discernment by Jay E. Adams.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, let us not be decieved by the words of this world, instead let us come closer to the truth of God's word.
